Aspiring candidates who have been categorized as essential repeaters due to previous results, compartmental failures, or overall failures have the opportunity to enhance their performance in one or more subjects through the CBSE examinations. They are eligible to apply for these tests.

The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) is set to commence the application process for private candidates in classes 10 and 12 on September 12, 2023. These exams for private candidates are scheduled for February, March, and April 2024, as per the board’s announcement. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official CBSE website at cbse.gov.in. The regular deadline for application submission is October 11, with a late fee option available until October 19.
Candidates in categories such as essential repeat, compartment, and failed candidates seeking to enhance their performance in one or more subjects are eligible to apply for these examinations.
The examination fee for five subjects stands at Rs 1500, with an additional Rs 300 per subject for each extra subject. For compartment, additional, and improvement exams, the fee is Rs 300 per subject, while the practical exam fee for each subject is Rs 100. Late applicants, beyond the stipulated deadline, can apply with a late fee of Rs 2000, in addition to the prescribed CBSE fees.
Furthermore, CBSE has specified that the deadline for submitting the List of Candidates (LOC) for board exams in 2024 is September 18, with no late fees applicable. Schools with delayed submissions can complete the CBSE LOC form by September 19. The CBSE board exams for 2024 are scheduled to commence on February 15. Schools are advised to set their exam dates in accordance with the aforementioned schedule.
The board exams for both class 10 and class 12 will conclude on April 10, spanning a duration of 55 days. The comprehensive exam schedule is expected to be released by CBSE, likely in December. While the education ministry has announced that two board exams will be held from the new academic session, CBSE is yet to confirm this development. Additionally, the board has made available sample papers for the upcoming 10th and 12th-grade exams.
