In a student-centric move, Mangalore University is contemplating a reduction in its newly introduced tatkal revaluation fee, which initially saw a four-fold increase. The decision aims to make the fast-track system more accessible to students, particularly sixth-semester students who recently received their results and are considering higher education or employment.

Raju Chalannavar, Registrar (Evaluation) at MU, confirmed that the regular fee for revaluation, re-totalling, and personal viewing is Rs 700. Initially, there were plans to raise it to Rs 2,800 due to the extensive work involved in processing each answer paper. However, considering the response and the financial constraints of many students, the university has decided to retain the normal fee.

Previously, the revaluation process took three months to complete, but the introduction of tatkal facilities now shortens the timeline to 15-20 days. Chalannavar mentioned that the notification regarding tatkal revaluation would be released soon.

The decision to reduce the fee has received appreciation from both students and faculty, particularly for its potential to aid those affected by pandemic-related delays in their academic journey.
