Jawan Sets Box Office Milestones: Atlee’s Directorial Eyes a Remarkable Opening Day Collection of Rs 65 Crore in Hindi, with an Additional Rs 8 Crore from Tamil and Telugu Markets

The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Jawan,’ under the direction of Atlee, is poised for a groundbreaking opening day at the Indian box office. Early trends indicate a staggering collection of approximately Rs 63 crore, marking it as one of the most monumental openings in Hindi cinema history. This impressive figure surpasses the previous record held by another SRK film, ‘Pathaan,’ which earned Rs 55 crore on its release day, January 25.
‘Jawan’ not only shattered ‘Pathaan’s’ record but also set a new benchmark that appears unbeatable for the foreseeable future. Depending on the performance of evening shows post 5 PM, ‘Jawan’ could potentially secure the title of the highest-grossing single day for a Hindi film, surpassing ‘Pathaan,’ which earned Rs 65 crore on January 26. The film has garnered positive early responses, and with prime showings beginning after 5 PM, ‘Jawan’ stands a strong chance of crossing the Rs 65 crore mark in Hindi alone.
The film’s collection received a boost due to the Janmashtami holiday across most parts of the country. A national holiday could have catapulted ‘Jawan’s’ single-day collection in the North to Rs 70 crore. Nevertheless, ‘Jawan’ is poised to make history with its remarkable opening day figures.
The film has seen remarkable occupancy across all regions of the country, showcasing the peak of the SRK era. Shah Rukh Khan has now delivered consecutive record-breaking openings, sparking discussions about the possibility of him delivering two All-Time Grossers (ATGs) within a span of just nine months.
The three national cinema chains have already amassed Rs 23.70 crore (all languages, with Hindi contributing Rs 21.50 crore) as of 3:00 PM and are expected to close the day with collections in the range of Rs 31 to 33 crore (all languages, with Hindi contributing Rs 29 to 30 crore).
Non-national chains and single-screen theaters have also reported significant numbers, contributing to an expected 44 to 46 percent of the national chain collection. This places ‘Jawan’ in the mentioned range. ‘Pathaan’ collected Rs 27.02 crore in the three chains on its opening day, increasing to Rs 32.30 crore on the second day, with nominal contributions from the Tamil and Telugu versions.
The MovieMax chain has also witnessed substantial success, with ‘Jawan’ accumulating Rs 70 lakh by 3:30 PM and aiming to cross a crore by midnight. For reference, ‘Pathaan’ earned Rs 78 lakh on its opening day in the chain and Rs 1.08 crore on the second day.
Regarding the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of ‘Jawan,’ the film is set to create records for Hindi origin films. Early trends suggest an opening in the range of Rs 7.00 to 9.00 crore nett for the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, marking a historic achievement for a Hindi film.
Whether in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, or Nizam, this action-packed entertainer featuring SRK alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi is on track to establish new milestones for a Hindi film. Taking into account business from all versions, ‘Jawan’ is poised to achieve a pan-India opening in the range of Rs 70.00 to 75 crore, setting yet another all-time record, contingent on the success of evening shows.
