“John Krasinski Opens Up About His Response to Wife Emily’s Iconic Film ‘Mary Poppins Returns’: Here Are the Actor’s Insights.”

In a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, John Krasinski, renowned for his role in The Office, shared a heartfelt experience regarding his wife, Emily Blunt’s, portrayal of Mary Poppins in the film Mary Poppins Returns.
Krasinski’s Emotional Reaction
Krasinski recounted his privilege of attending an early screening of Emily’s film. Initially perplexed by the presence of tissues in the screening room, he never expected to require them, attributing it to a cold. However, as the film unfolded, he found himself overwhelmed with emotion. He revealed, “25 minutes into the movie, I stood up and went to the back of the room, and Emily said, ‘Do you not like it? I’ve never seen this happen.’” He resorted to searching for napkins amongst a spread of muffins and bagels, saying, “I need anything to stop this crying!” Eventually exhausting the tissue box in just 20 minutes, he had to resort to his sweater.
Praising Emily’s Performance
When Ellen inquired about Emily’s performance, Krasinski quipped, “It’s not her best,” before earnestly adding, “It’s honestly one of the most beautiful films. I think it’s exactly what everybody needs at the holidays, the pure joy.”
A Humorous Encounter with Dwayne Johnson
Krasinski also shared a humorous anecdote about trying to connect with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Emily’s co-star in Jungle Cruise. Krasinski requested to use Johnson’s gym to prepare for his role in Jack Ryan. Despite being told that nobody had ever set foot in that gym, Krasinski decided to explore. He was astounded by the gym’s unique equipment, including a mysterious contraption called a “pit shark,” leading to an amusing encounter. “I walked in and it was like alien spaceships had landed, he has like 40 pieces of equipment I’ve never seen in my life … [One of the alien pieces of equipment] is called a pit shark, and I said, ‘Dwayne, how do you use this?’ And he said, ‘Oh, it’s easy I’ll show you one day.’ … I had a crick in my neck for about three weeks.”
Mutual Admiration
Krasinski’s emotional reactions to Emily’s work are well-documented, with him having viewed her breakout performance in The Devil Wears Prada over 70 times. He lavished praise on her acting abilities, asserting that there’s nothing she cannot do. In return, Emily commended Krasinski’s acting, particularly highlighting his roles in A Quiet Place and Away We Go. Their mutual admiration continues to strengthen their bond, both personally and professionally.
