Renowned veteran actress Seema Deo, celebrated for her remarkable contributions to both Marathi and Hindi cinema, breathed her last on Thursday, August 24, at the age of 83. Her cinematic journey encompassed iconic roles in movies such as the classic “Anand” (1971) alongside Rajesh Khanna, the poignant “Koshish” (1972) starring Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri, as well as “Sansar” (1987) featuring Anupam Kher and Rekha, among other notable films. Her demise leaves behind a legacy that has touched the hearts of cinephiles across generations.

Seema Deo is survived by her two sons, Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo, both of whom have left their mark on the entertainment industry. Abhinay Deo, known for his directorial ventures like “Delhi Belly” and “Blackmail,” shared the somber news of her passing. He disclosed that her health had been challenged by Alzheimer’s disease.

In a statement to the Indian Express, Abhinay Deo conveyed, “Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but otherwise, she was fine.”

Back in 2020, Ajinkya Deo, a respected actor who collaborated with Ajay Devgn in films like “Tanhaji,” had taken to Twitter to address his mother’s health. He expressed, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well being, wish the whole of Maharashtra who loved her so much also prays for her well being.”

The news of her passing prompted an outpouring of wishes and blessings on social media platforms, with netizens honoring the senior actress’s legacy. In response, Ajinkya Deo extended gratitude, stating, “On behalf of the entire Deo family, Thank you all for your good wishes and blessings for Aai… prayers go up, blessings come down thanks all.”

Seema Deo’s cinematic journey was intertwined with that of her husband, Ramesh Deo, a prolific actor in both films and television. His versatile career spanned numerous Hindi and Marathi films, as well as impactful roles in Marathi dramas. He also ventured into production and direction, contributing to feature films, television serials, advertisements, and documentaries. Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo, formerly known as Nalini Saraf, were united in marriage in 1960. Sadly, Ramesh Deo passed away on February 2, 2022, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital at the age of 93, succumbing to a heart attack.
