G20 Leaders Commit to Prioritizing Foundational Education and Assisting Educational Institutions and Teachers in Harnessing Emerging Technologies.

The Group of 20 (G20) leaders have revealed a transformative agenda titled ‘G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration: Delivering Quality Education.’ The agenda outlines a commitment to revamp education, focusing on foundational learning, narrowing the digital divide, and aiding educational institutions and teachers in adapting to evolving trends.
Furthermore, the leaders aim to expand access to high-quality technical and vocational education and training. Collaborative efforts are also on the horizon to promote scientific cooperation and facilitate lifelong learning, especially for vulnerable populations.
The Ministry of Education expressed, ‘The G20 nations have collectively paved the way for a brighter educational future, emphasizing equity, adaptability, and global collaboration to ensure that education remains an opportunity for all.’
In a parallel focus on enhancing foundational learning, G20 countries will join forces to improve literacy, numeracy, and socioemotional skills, recognizing them as essential building blocks for education and employment opportunities. Additionally, the nations will prioritize artificial intelligence and digital technologies to bridge the digital divide for educators.
Recent collaborations in the field include an agreement between the IIT Council and the Association of American Universities (AAU) for the establishment of the Indo-US Global Challenges Institute. Moreover, the New York University Tandon School of Engineering and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will launch the New York University-Tandon and IIT Kanpur Advanced Research Center in critical and emerging technologies.
IIT Bombay has also entered a partnership with the Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE) for advancements in quantum information science, climate and energy, advanced microelectronics, artificial intelligence, and data science.
